Reflection about Suicide.

Yesterday night, I stumbled upon a video about the experience of a mother who lost her only child to suicide. I can't imagine how painful it is for her to lose him and also how much pain her son has been bearing, dealing with depression and anxiety. Below is the link. https://fb.watch/v/17fMoqSqB/ I look up to how courageous she is in opening up her emotional wounds, sharing her experience. She finds meaning in the loss of her child and that is to raise awareness on suicide and depression. And yes, we all shall never make fun of people who struggle with mental health (depression, anxiety, being suicidal, etc). We shall not judge people who are in psychological pain as weak or silly or even selfish for talking about their pain.

It breaks my heart to see many young people (teenagers, young adults....) losing faith in themselves, losing hope in life because of the adverse experiences they face growing up. The world needs a little more empathy, kindness, support and care, not judgement, not blame.

Let's be the change we want to see in this world. We might not be able change the world. We can change how we, every single one of us, respond to people who struggle in their life.

We-the community-shall not fail the younger generation!

We-the community- shall extend our helping hand to those in need!

We-the community- shall be the pillar for the young! Reaching out for help is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of resilience.

Warmest regards, Cheryl Chin
